In the autumn of 1881, a young woman named Nora stitched a sampler to celebrate her family’s new home.
She surrounded the grand blue house with roses, birds, leaping deer, and sturdy trees—symbols of love, freedom, prosperity, and strength.
At the centre, she added her initials and the alphabet, leaving a record of her hand and heart for those who would come after her. For generations, the sampler hung in the entrance hall.
Though the people within the house changed, its message remained: a home is built of timber and stone, but its true story is stitched from memory, hope, and love.
